These sanctions on Belarus affect several key areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>1) Trade<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Ban on dual-use items:<\/strong> The ban on dual-use items, advanced technologies, maritime navigation goods, and luxury goods is extended.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Imports:<\/strong> The import of gold, diamonds, helium, coal, and mineral products, including crude oil, is prohibited.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>2) Services<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Service restrictions:<\/strong> Various services to Belarus, its government, and other related entities are prohibited. This includes accounting, auditing, architecture, engineering, IT consultancy, legal advisory, advertising, and product support services.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>3) Transport<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Road transport:<\/strong> The ban on road transport within the EU for Belarusian trailers and semi-trailers is expanded. Additionally, EU operators with Belarusian ownership exceeding 25% are prohibited from transporting goods by road within the EU.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Measures against evasion<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8220;No Belarus&#8221; clause:<\/strong> The re-exportation of sensitive goods and technology to Belarus, as well as firearms and ammunition, is contractually prohibited.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Transit ban:<\/strong> The transit of dual-use items and other goods through Belarus is not permitted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Due diligence:<\/strong> EU companies must have effective due diligence mechanisms to prevent their subsidiaries in third countries from circumventing the sanctions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Protection of EU operators<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">EU operators can claim compensation for damages related to the implementation of the sanctions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The adopted measures reflect the EU&#8217;s determination to address Belarus&#8217;s complicity in Russia&#8217;s aggression against Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.feliu.biz\/\">www.feliu.biz<\/a>\u00a0\u2502\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expatfeliu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.expatfeliu.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, June 29, the European Union approved new sanctions on Belarus in response to the Lukashenko regime&#8217;s involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
