We were honored to accompany the Institutional Delegation from Zhonglou District (Changzhou), led by Mr. Zhu Hanjie, on a visit to the Calaf / Autoflotas storage facility.
Our visit allowed us to see firsthand the center’s high logistical capacity—one of the largest storage yards in Spain—with over 500,000 m² of surface area and a capacity to store more than 17,000 vehicles, 9,000 of which are covered by netting, making it the storage yard with the most covered spaces in Spain.
During the visit, a strategic project was presented: the construction of a new rail terminal in Calaf. This station will directly connect the storage yard to the general rail network managed by ADIF, allowing the logistics center to be linked to the Port of Barcelona, Martorell, Madrid, Andalusia, Galicia, the Mediterranean corridor, and the rest of Europe. This is the first new private rail project in Catalonia in the last 30 years, and it will make AUTOFLOTAS Calaf the only vehicle storage facility in Catalonia connected by rail, apart from port facilities. 🚆
This development not only strengthens intermodality and logistical efficiency, but also positions Calaf as a key strategic project for Central Catalonia, capable of boosting international logistics, automotive distribution, and new large-scale business opportunities.
We thank Autoflotas Automoviles y Servicios, S.L.U. for their hospitality, the thorough explanation of their facilities, their forward-thinking vision, and their willingness to explore new avenues for collaboration.
